Identify physical health situations beyond the scope of your role

You should assess each physical health situation that arises and ask yourself if it fits into your role; if it does not, you need to decide what action to take to report and refer the situation. For example, a person may have fallen in the bathroom and the worker has not completed manual-handling training. Lifting the person could cause additional harm to the person or the worker could hurt themselves. In this situation the worker should call an ambulance so the person can be lifted safely and have any injuries treated.
